💪 Strengths
- The interface is genuinely simple and intuitive. From the moment you open the app, you're presented with a feed of activity suggestions that you can swipe through. There's no clutter, no confusing menus. This design makes it perfect for quick browsing, especially when you're standing on a street corner wondering what to do next.
- It's completely free to use. Core features like browsing recommendations, saving favorites, and creating basic itineraries are available without any payment. This is a major advantage over competitors that gate basic features behind subscription tiers. You can test the app's value without any financial commitment.
- The recommendation engine is tailored to your preferences. You can indicate whether you prefer urban or nature activities, adventurous or relaxed experiences, and the app adjusts its suggestions accordingly. The curated approach means you're getting quality picks, not just algorithmically generated lists from review sites.
- Coverage spans both urban and nature experiences. Whether you're into street art, local food markets, hiking trails, or scenic viewpoints, the app offers a diverse range of suggestions. This diversity makes it versatile for different types of trips and interests.
⚠ Watch out for
- No collaboration features. You can't share your itinerary with friends or family, nor can you co-plan a trip. This is a significant limitation for group travel, where coordination is key. It's strictly a solo planning tool.
- No offline functionality. All suggestions require an active data connection. If you're in a remote area or traveling internationally without a data plan, the app becomes useless. Competitors like Google Maps offer offline maps, and some travel apps allow downloading itineraries for offline access.
- Lack of integration with booking and mapping platforms. You can find activities, but you can't book them directly, nor can you get directions to them. This forces you to switch to other apps to complete your plans, adding friction to the planning process.
- No detailed itinerary planning features. While you can save favorites, there's no option to create day-by-day itineraries with times and durations. This limits its usefulness for multi-day trips where you want a structured plan.
🎯 Best for
Solo travelers or adventure seekers who want spontaneous, curated local ideas without the need for detailed planning or group coordination.
🚫 Who should skip
Travelers who need comprehensive itinerary planning, booking integrations, or collaboration tools for group trips.
📚 Learning curve
Minimal — the app is straightforward with a simple interface; anyone can start discovering adventures immediately.
🧑⚖️ Verdict
Nowy Nowy is a solid choice for spontaneous solo travelers on a budget who want quick, personalized activity ideas. However, if you need collaboration, offline access, or booking integration, you'll be disappointed. Bottom line: it's a useful free tool for inspiration, but not a complete travel plan

📋 Assessment
💪 Strengths
- The integration of OpenAI's ChatGPT-4 is the core strength. It allows for genuinely conversational itinerary building — you can refine your plan in natural language, tweaking details like 'add a quiet café' or 'swap Tuesday's museum for a park.' This level of interactive adjustment is rare in free apps and makes planning feel collaborative rather than prescriptive.
- The price point is unbeatable: completely free with no hidden fees or subscription gates. In a market where many AI tools require $20/month, Roam Around delivers substantial planning capability at zero cost, making it accessible to budget-conscious travelers and students.
- Mobile-first design is evident in the streamlined, touch-friendly interface. The app loads quickly, displays itineraries in a clean, card-based layout that's easy to skim while on the go, and minimizes data usage — a boon for travelers with limited international data plans.
- Speed of itinerary generation is impressive. Within seconds of entering your destination and dates, you have a full plan. This makes it perfect for last-minute weekend getaways or when you're brainstorming ideas after booking a flight on a whim.
- The AI's ability to incorporate local nuance — like suggesting regional dishes, hidden gems, or seasonal events — adds a layer of authenticity that generic travel guides often miss, enhancing the sense of discovery.
⚠ Watch out for
- The lack of offline access is a critical drawback. Travelers frequently find themselves in areas with poor connectivity, and the app's reliance on a live internet connection means you're stranded without a plan if you're in a subway, remote trail, or foreign country with expensive roaming. No caching mode or downloadable itineraries is a huge miss.
- The absence of integrations with booking platforms (like Skyscanner, Booking.com, or Airbnb) and map services (Google Maps, Apple Maps) severely limits practicality. You can't book hotels or flights directly, nor can you export your itinerary to a navigation app. This forces users to manually transfer data, undermining the convenience.
- There are no collaboration or sharing features. If you're planning a trip with friends or family, you cannot invite others to view or edit the itinerary. You're stuck emailing screenshots or reading aloud, which is clunky and a major limitation for group travel.
- The AI's output can occasionally be generic or lack current accuracy. Because it's based on ChatGPT-4's training data, it might suggest closed restaurants or outdated festival dates. There's no real-time data integration, so you must verify details externally.
- The app lacks a backup or export option in a portable format (like PDF or ICS calendar file). If you switch devices or lose your phone, your plans vanish with no easy way to recover, which is risky for travelers who rely on their phone as a single source of truth.
🎯 Best for
Individual leisure travelers who want a quick, AI-powered starting point for trip planning without complex integrations.
🚫 Who should skip
Business travelers needing expense integration, groups requiring shared editing, or anyone needing offline functionality.
📚 Learning curve
Minimal: the app is designed for simple conversational input, similar to chatting with a travel agent.
